The HJ 112 pedometer from Omron is one of the best pedometers available today. It strikes an impressive balance between features, price, and usability, resulting in a pedometer that's suitable for everyone, enthusiasts and occasional users alike.
I don't know how it manages it, but this pedometer somehow keeps an accurate record of your steps, distance and calories, even though you keep it in your pocket! The manual mentions something about dual sensor technology, but that's a bit technical for me.
I like this pedometer because it has such an easily readable display with easy to use buttons, which is a surprise on something so compact. If you'd rather carry it on your belt, there's a detachable holder and strong security strap.
It uses a replaceable lithium battery which should last for about 6 months. Assuming an average of 10,000 steps per day that works out to be quite a lot of walking on one battery!
It was a close call between the HJ 112 and the HJ 720 ITC, but when I compared all the features and price ..etc, the HJ 112 won. Both pedometers can be kept in your pocket, but in the end I decided I didn't need the software that came with the HJ 720.
If you're wondering whether this pedometer can be used for jogging, it can. That's exactly what I use it for. I admit I didn't buy it with the intention of going jogging, but after a few weeks of consistent walking it's amazing how much fitter you get.
I used to walk around a particular circuit, but after a short while I had the urge to do a bit of jogging, and it wasn't long before I was doing more jogging than walking. I admit that this was probably down to having the HJ 122 with me.
Anyway, if you're looking for a reliable pedometer that won't let you down, and you're not particularly interested in all the extras, then the Omron HJ 112 is probably the one to go for.
It won't matter if you're not buying this for yourself because the HJ 112 also makes a great gift. It's really easy to use and has everything you need to keep track of your activity.
Not only that, in addition to it being a pretty cool gadget it's also a very practical gift that will help keep them healthy and fit. I think that's a great way of showing someone you really care about them. - 16089
